Dozens of students from the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind are still basking in the glow from a global performance.
“This was just so wonderful,” said freshman Pamela Gomez. “A chance of a lifetime.”
Gomez, and more than one hundred of her classmates, kicked off Super Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville, by singing with grammy award winning singer, Alicia Keys.
“It was very cool to meet a star like Alicia Keys and spend a few moments with her,” said senior Preston White.
The students rehearsed with Keys two days before the game. She took pictures with everyone.
The students performed “America the Beautiful”. It holds a special place in the soul of the school. The song is a signature cover of the late Ray Charles. Charles went to the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind back in the thirties.
