“The Diary of Alicia Keys,” the sophomore album from the R&B singer, sold about 325,000 copies, falling from No. 1 to No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart.

While Studdard’s numbers (more than 416,000 copies) easily trounced the week’s Number Two album, Alicia Keys’ ‘The Diary of Alicia Keys’ (which sold 342,000 to bring its two-week total to 961,000), they inevitably invite comparison to those of his Idol runner-up Clay Aiken, who set the bar higher when he sold 613,000 copies of his Measure of a Man two months ago.

Because of Diary’s massive debut a week ago — third biggest of the year with 618,000 copies — the only place it could go was down. Her second album is the only disc in the top 20 that didn’t see a rise in sales last week as the gift-giving holidays grew nearer.
