OK, don’t beat me up;-)
I know it’s been awhile. I’m trying to think of the last time we spoke. Let me check
DAMN! Almost a whole month??
Wow! I don’t blame you if you feel neglected. But of course, it’s never, ever my intention.

Anyway, No, I haven’t been asleep for that long;-) I’ve been we’ll I guess you know what I’ve been doing. In fact you guys know things about me, I don’t even know. I read some things you post and I’m “Wow! Am I doing that?”
LOL!

One thing that you don’t know is I snuck away on a little vacation right after the VMA’s. I know that with everything that is going to be going on; going to China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, things are going to be pretty strenuous, so I knew that I’d better take a little rejuvenation time while I could snatch it. I did and it was gorgeous. I went to the mountains. The sun would be bright and beautiful and then around 4pm, the skies would open and it would pour down rain, It smells soooo good. Liquid sunshine. Isn’t that a crazy visual? I got a chance to just be. Niice!

What else?
The Karma video is bananas! I don’t know if you’re ready .;-)

It’s late, this is kind of a bogus entry being that I’ve been away so long (I can admit it) but I just wanted you to know that I haven’t vanished off the face off the diary. Ha!
I’m here, ain’t going nowhere. We gots lots more to do together Shit! We’re just warming up.

One love forever!

Alicia makes ceramic plate    ·    September 4th, 2004

George Clooney is not only filling his plate these days, beefing up for his weighty role in “Syriana,” but he is making plates, too. Clooney, along with stars such as Reese Witherspoon, Alicia Keys, Brendan Fraser, Anjelica Huston, Samuel L. Jackson and Jennifer Lopez, have agreed to create a unique ceramic plate design. These will be auctioned off Oct. 23 at Barbara Davis’ Carousel of Hope gala at the Beverly Hilton.

The night benefits juvenile diabetes. But sincerity aside, Carousel is also, next to the Oscars and the Golden Globes, the glam Hollywood event of the year. Not just star-studded, but star-glutted. In fact, it often outshines both those industry galas. If Davis doesn’t invite you, get out of town!

Singer Alicia Keys keeps busy with new film, travel articles    ·    September 3rd, 2004

Alicia

NEW YORK (AP) - Alicia Keys is working on a new film, proofreading her poems for publication and writing travel stories for a newspaper.

Oh yeah, and her second album The Diary of Alicia Keys recently topped three million in sales.

She continues to impress audiences long after the runaway success of her debut Songs in A Minor.

At Sunday’s MTV Music Video Awards, she even had Lenny Kravitz on his knees.

Kravitz displayed his admiration after Keys won her first moonman for best R&B video for If I Ain’t Got You. She then wowed the Miami crowd with a soulful rendition of the song, as well as a rousing, funkified performance of Stevie Wonder’s Higher Ground with Kravitz and Wonder himself.

But when Keys doesn’t have rock stars at her feet, Keys forges her affection for writing.

“I just love the pen and the paper,” the 23-year-old singer-pianist says in an interview. “I like to document what I’ve seen and what I feel.”

She’s writing travel reports every few weeks and has already filed three articles for the New York Daily News. (Her upcoming travels included an Asian tour and a concert on the Great Wall of China.)

The five-time Grammy winner thinks she can see things through the average person’s eyes: “I mean, I live a very normal life despite whatever anybody may believe. I’m a very low-key person.”

Michelle Leifer, a Daily News travel editor, agrees: “She brings a good perspective. She’s not jaded and is very youthful. She’s seeing a lot of things for the first time.”

This fall, Keys will release a book of poetry and next year will publish the non-musical Diary of Alicia Keys - a collection of the singer’s personal journal entries since she was nine years old.

“Very personal and very scary,” Keys says of the diary.

Still, she finds strength in the writings of her youth: “To be able to read back on my thoughts remind me of what I feel now, and who I want to be - who I don’t want to be.”

Keys will also act in her first movie in a Halle Berry-produced biopic about piano prodigy Philippa Schuyler, a biracial woman who encountered racism in her classical piano playing during the 1950s and ’60s. Like Schuyler, Keys’s mother is white and her father black.

“I’ve always said I don’t want to play a pianist, I don’t want to play a singer. But I feel like this story is so powerful and perfect. It always happens like that,” she says.

Of course, Keys is still an R&B singer too. She recently finished shooting a music video for her album’s second single, Karma. Part of the video was shot in the Dominican Republic; another part was shot in New York and allowed Keys to fulfil “a fantasy I’ve always wanted to live out: me playing the piano on the subway platform.”

And she just began shooting a video for My Boo, a duet with Usher. The two previously worked together on a remix of Keys’s If I Ain’t Got You.

“Him and I, the songs that we did with each other really showcase us in lights that we aren’t often seen in. It takes us both out of our elements respectively, but it’s cool,” says Keys.

Alicia Keys reportedly unlocks her diva side    ·    September 1st, 2004

Did Alicia Keys pull a prima donna act at a recent photo shoot?

Is Alicia Keys aspiring to be a J.Lo-like diva?

The hot singing star was scheduled to do a cover shoot for Suede, and a source close to the newly-launched magazine says that Keys was “an unbelievable diva.”

“She showed up with her mother, who was also pretty demanding, and they were very high-handed and found everything unacceptable,” the insider tells The Scoop. “The poor photographer only got a couple of shots before they stormed off the set saying they have more important things to do. Suede has a long story about her inside, but they had to use a shot for the cover.”

But a source close to Keys has a different story. “Alicia didn’t have a problem with the photographer,” says the insider, “but she did have an issue with the hair and makeup people. Alicia is very reasonable and low-key, but she’s also a professional and knows how these things are done and maybe Suede, because it’s so new, doesn’t. If they think Alicia Keys is difficult, wait until they have to deal with Janet Jackson.”

Keys’s rep called accusations of diva-behavior “absolutely not true,” and added, “Alicia is always a professional.” A spokeswoman for Suede also denied the story, saying the star was “lovely” and “we enjoyed every minute of the shoot.”
