When Alicia Keys performed her hit song, ‘You Don’t Know My Name,’ last night at the closing of the “2008 Bermuda Music Festival,” it sounded as if the heavens opened up and the angels were singing.
I had no idea that the title of the song would be a double entendre for how the media corps, who were invited to cover the festival, were treated. But that comes later in this piece.
Keys’ beautiful singing was a welcomed reprieve for a four-day event that featured some of the biggest acts in music (namely Beyonce Knowles and UB40), who had to play second fiddle to torrential rainstorms on the idyllic Atlantic Ocean island.
Luckily for the ‘If I Ain’t Got You’ singer, the sky was in sync with her smooth and harmonious song styling. read more at www.blackvoices.com

Eleven-time Grammy award winner Alicia Keys commanded the stage like a veteran soul diva, belting hit after hit to a sold-out crowd at the Santa Barbara Bowl.
The R&B singer took audience members through the evolution of love through her nearly two-hour set Friday, from the excitement and innocence of a crush to a crushing heartache, then introspection and realization of the “Superwoman” within to the acceptance of newfound unconditional love with hits like “No One.”
Keys took the audience to Spanish Harlem, as she and her seven-piece band performed “Karma” from her sophomore album “Diary of Alicia Keys” with salsa-driven beats that spurred many in the audience to dance in the aisles. Click here to read more

Alicia Keys shimmered under the stage lights at Casino del Sol’s AVA Sunday night.
The butterfly imprint on her charcoal black shirt sparkled with silver sequins. So did her block heels, her drape earrings and the suspenders holding up her skin-tight pants.
The extra flash looked fetching on the 27-year-old New York native but was completely unnecessary.
Keys’ vocals are unparalleled, her songs have won multiple Grammy awards, and she looked absolutely stunning Sunday, with her hair straightened and pulled back into a ponytail. She didn’t need to wear an elaborate ensemble in order to shine.
“I’ve met a lot of really good people today already,” the young singer said with seeming sincerity to the packed venue at the beginning of her show. “I feel we are in the right spot tonight.”
Keys spent the rest of her two-hour set dividing her time between a grand piano on a rotating platform center stage and strutting back and forth, belting out hit after hit, accompanied by a 10-piece band that included sax and trumpet players, a drummer and three backup vocalists.
Many of the evening’s melodies came from her latest release, “As I Am,” including “Teenage Love Affair,” the defiant show opener “Go Ahead” and the encore megahit, “No One. Click here to read more

The NFL’s top-two ranked defenses will meet as Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1) host Ray Lewis and the unbeaten Baltimore Ravens (2-0) on ESPN’s Monday Night Football in a clash of AFC North rivals September 29, at 8:30 p.m. ET. Mike Tirico (play-by-play) and analysts Ron Jaworski and Tony Kornheiser will call the game on ESPN and ESPN HD, while Álvaro Martin (play-by-play), Raúl Allegre (analyst) and John Sutcliffe (reporter) will call the Spanish-language telecast on ESPN Deportes.
Additionally, SportsCenter Monday Kickoff (6 p.m.) and Monday Night Countdown (7 p.m.) will include brief video montages of football highlights mixed with the song and music video “Another Way to Die,” the theme for the upcoming James Bond film Quantum of Solace. The music was written by Jack White of The White Stripes and Raconteurs and is a duet between White and multiple Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys. The song will also be heard throughout the MNF telecast, continuing “Monday Night Musicians,” an initiative introduced last season where ESPN’s music department works with record companies to highlight upcoming music releases of popular performing artists within Monday Night Football games.

School Daze Sequel?????
Moviemaker Spike Lee’s plans of turning Kanye West into a film star have hit a snag - no one wants to fund the film.
The director has penned what he thinks is “a very good script” for the sequel of his 1988 movie School Daze - and he wants West to star in the film with Alicia Keys.
But no one likes the idea.
He says, “The film takes place at the same college but 25 years later, but the powers that be didn’t want to tell that story. It was gonna have Kanye in it and Alicia Keys.”
The original School Daze starred Laurence Fishburne, Giancarlo Esposito and Tisha Campbell-Martin. We need to see our Girl in more movies please. Pls drop your comments and dont forget to visit out forum by clicking here

BACKSTAGE at any concert is always a high-pressure environment.
At Alicia Keys’ performance at Nimes, in the south of France, a whole world of catering, crew and costumes intersect with the clock ticking down to stage time.
In a not-so-glamorous portable container, Keys is in glamour mode.
Her make-up artist has just left and Keys is finishing the job herself.
“I do my own make-up at festivals,” Keys admits, juggling eyeliner. “You’d be surprised how much this all costs.”
Her As I Am world tour is the biggest live production she has undertaken – in arenas and at festivals including Australia’s A Day On The Green winery circuit.
It is a touring luxury you can indulge when you’re an artist who still sells copious quantities of albums; As I Am debuted at No.1 in the US with nearly 750,000 first-week sales.
The Nimes show is stripped down by her standards, but still includes a revolving piano and a huge band who bring Keys’ three hit albums to life.
With Keys, a musician who happens to be a pop star, there’s plenty of freedom – her Prince cover How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore runs for nearly 20 minutes with each band member getting the obligatory introduction and solo.
Success has seen her move from Prince fan to Prince friend.
“I love Prince,’’ she says, looking in the mirror – it’s like interviewing a hairdresser while they’re on the job.
