Lilith Fair — urban style. That’s the concept behind the upcoming tour to be co-headlined by Beyoncé, Missy Elliott and Alicia Keys, first reported last month by Billboard. Dubbed the Verizon Triple Theat tour, the trek kicks of March 12 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and wraps April 18 in Oakland, Calif. Tamia will support. “This is history in the making,” Elliott said today (Feb. 5). “I’ve always wanted to do a Lilith Fair on the urban side.” “It’s all about the ladies,” added Beyoncé, who said she began thinking about the idea eight months ago and then contacted Elliott and Keys. “We’re fans of each other.” The trio declined to reveal specifics when queried about show order, special guests and staging. Keys did promise the performances will be exciting. “We’re all different women with different styles of music,” she said. “The shows will be exciting just for that fact.” Prior to the tour, Keys will join Musiq, Keith Sweat, Teena Marie and Jaheim for Chicago radio station WGCI-FM’s Slow Jam, to be held Feb. 13 at the city’s United Center.
