Usher and Alicia Keys were the big winners at Monday night’s 19th annual Soul Train Awards in Los Angeles. Each picked up two individual awards and shared the Best R&B/ Soul Single by a Duo or Group for their hit collaboration, “My Boo.” Usher won awards for Best R&B/ Soul Single for “Confessions Part II” and Best R&B/ Soul Album, Male for Confessions, according to a report by The Associated Press. He also shared an award for Best R&B/ Soul or Rap Dance Cut with Ludacris and Lil Jon for “Yeah!” Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You” received the award for Best R&B/ Soul Single, Female and Best R&B/ Soul Album, Female for The Diary of Alicia Keys. Other winners of the awards — chosen by managers, performers and radio programmers — include Destiny’s Child (Best R&B/ Soul Album by a Group for Destiny Fulfilled), Ciara (Best R&B/ Soul or Rap New Artist) and Jay-Z (Best R&B/ Soul or Rap Video for “99 Problems.”) The show, taped at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, will air in syndication beginning March 12. |
