Reports indicate that singer and songwriter Alicia Keys and her manager Jeff Robinson have recently signed a multi-year first-look film production deal with Disney.
Keys and Robinson and their company Big Pita, Little Pita, will remake the 1958 film “Bell Book and Candle.”
The film will see Keys play the witch role originally played by Kim Novak.
Meanwhile, 26-year-old Keys has completed a supporting turn as an assassin in Joe Carnahan’s “Smokin’ Aces,” as well as an appearance in “The Nanny Diaries.”

As a long-time fan of the original “Bell, Book and Candle”–my favorite movie–starring Kim Novak, let’s hope the producers and cast of the remake stay true to the heart of the original, else we’ll have another diaster like the atrocious and unfunny “Bewitched” movie.
Please don’t be too cutesy or clever. Be sexy, dark, serious, and beautiful.
Hire good writers and supporting actors; please DON’T hire Nora Ephron.
The original movie is classy, eye-catching, and genuinely funny. Please don’t try to copy other inane witch shows like “Charmed”, and don’t “Wiccanize” BB&C. Stick to the formula of the original. (If it ain’t broken; don’t fix it.) Just my 2 cents.
Alicia is very pretty; I’m looking forward to the movie. A good soundtrack would be a bonus (the original movie has a very good soundtrack).

For the love of God, Alicia could do something original and probably better than grabbing another movie (which is excellent, by the way) off the shelf and remaking it. This remaking of movies has got to stop! Alicia is way too talented to be starring in a remake of a movie. She deserves something *original*. Next you’re going to tell us that Shirley MacLaine is playing Queenie in the movie. Good god please help us.
