Alicia has slammed journalists for choosing to focus on celebrities rather than more serious world issues. Alicia joined Bono, Brad Pitt and Mariah Carey on Wednesday night (09Apr08) as part of charity telethon special Idol Gives Back. The two-hour programme aimed to raise $100 million for a number of charities. In a clip filmed during a recent trip to Africa, Alicia said, “If AIDS got half of the attention that the media gives to celebrity dramas, this issue would be well on its way to being solved.”
Serving as a Global Ambassador for AIDS charity Keep the Child Alive, Keys met with families riddled by the growing pandemic during her visit, encouraging viewers to make a donation as she noted, “It’s crazy… how you can change the lives of people forever for the price of a pair of shoes.” |

DEAR MISS KEYS.
YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE MEDIA, AND THE GOVERMENTS PLOY TO STAY ON TOP, THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING BUT WHAT WILL BENEFIT THEM. I AM A DISABLE PERSON WHO HAVE LIVED IN THE STATE OF CALFORNIA FOR 28 YEARS, I HAVE TYPE 2
DIABETES AND CAN NOT GET FOOD STAMPS TO EAT, AND ON TOP OF THAT I AM A STRONG BLACK WOMAN AND FACING LOOSING MY HOME TO LIVE IN THE STREET, THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING BUT THEMSELFS, NO CARE FOR THE HOMELESS, NO CARE OF THE ELDERLY NO CARE FOR HOUSING. THE ONLY FOCUS IS FOR NOBODYS LIKE ME IS TO DIE. THAT’S WHY THEY CAN’T FOCUS ON AIDS OR DISABLE PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD WE ALL MAY AS WELL BE LIVING IN A THIRD WORLD CONUTRY.
JUST KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING TO MAKE A CHANGE THAT’S THE BEST YOU CAN DO.
