Variety reports that Alicia Keys will hit the big screen in “Compositions in Black and White,” a project to be setup at Sony Pictures and produced by Halle Berry. Written by Jose Rivera (”The Motorcycle Diaries”), the film will be based on the Kathryn Talalay book about Philippa Schuyler. Schuyler grew up a child prodigy and the first child of color to become a nationally prominent musician. She was composing music by the age of 5, but racial and gender bias in the 1930s proved to be a difficult obstacle to overcome. |
