Alicia Keys has been cast in director duo Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini’s big screen adaptation of bestseller The Nanny Diaries for The Weinstein Company, says Variety.
The film stars Scarlett Johansson as a working-class woman from New Jersey who becomes a nanny to a wealthy Manhattan family. Keys takes on the role of Johansson’s best friend.
Keys has just wrapped Joe Carnahan’s Smokin’ Aces, for Working Title and Universal. She stars opposite Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman, Don Cheadle and Peter Berg.
“Diaries” has already booked Chris Evans, Laura Linney, Paul Giamatti and Donna Murphy.
The film, which begins shooting in New York this month, is based on Nicola Kraus and Emma McLaughlin’s popular satirical novel.
Keys will also appear in the action comedy “Smokin’ Aces,” starring Ben Affleck and Don Cheadle.
