For its 35th anniversary issue, Essence magazine has selected Alicia Keys, Fantasia, Iman, Angela Bassett, Susan Taylor and Mo’Nique to grace the cover. According to MTV.com, the upcoming May issue celebrates the “35 Most Remarkable Women in the World.” The women featured on the Essence cover are among the 35 most remarkable women. Beyonce, India.Arie and Queen Latifah are also on the list.

At the cover photo shoot, Keys said, “We were all kind of looking at each other and pinching ourselves.”
