New York, NY - March 28, 2006 - On May 10, 2006, friends and supporters of Doctors of the World-USA (“DOW”) will gather to honor its 2006 Health and Human Rights Leadership Awards honorees. Each year, DOW recognizes individuals and groups for their promotion of health and human rights around the world, and for their efforts toward ensuring a peaceful and healthy future for all people.
One of this year’s honorees will be Alicia Keys, Grammy award-winning recording artist, musician and philanthropist. Ms. Keys is the co-founder and global ambassador of Keep A Child Alive, a nonprofit organization that provides life-saving AIDS medicines directly to children and families in Africa. In April of this year, Ms. Keys will embark on a tour of Uganda to promote care and understanding for the children affected by AIDS in that part of the world.

I have a daughter who is five years old and she loves your music. It is unbelivable how well she learn your songs more than I do. Alicea Thank you so much for being so wonderful artist, you are my inspiration and a role model in my life. As a single mother of two with a full time job and going to school, however sometimes I want to give up, but WHEN I listen to your music it gets my soul up and I see you as a rolemodel. Don’t ever change the way you are. stay away from drugs and negative people in your life. Thank you for your music. This is the first time I become a fan of an artist, and I feel that you are not just any artist out there, you are very special. Thanks again. Keep up the good work. Please write a spanish song for your next album.
