JAKARTA (AP): American rhythm and blues singer Alicia Keys and British violin act Bond have canceled concerts in the Indonesian capital after this week’s deadly suicide attack on the Australian Embassy, promoters said on Saturday.

A spokesman for promoter Java Musikindo said both acts were due to play Jakarta early next month but have pulled out due to Thursday’s bombing, which killed nine people and wounded more than 170.

Indonesia has been hit by a series of bombings in recent years that have put off international acts from playing in the country.In recent months, however, several popular Western bands performed here.

The embassy blast was blamed on the al-Qaeda linked terror group Jamaah Islamiyah, which was also implicated in the 2002 Bali bombings and a blast last year on the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Jakarta.
