Screams of delight filled a South Side elementary school as Grammy Award winning singer Alicia Keys entered Betty Shabazz International Magnet School on Thursday. Keys is on tour promoting her latest album, but in five select cities on the tour — starting with Chicago — she’s also promoting Frum Tha Ground Up. The group runs an in-school workshop targeted at eighth-graders. It helps kids get motivated and determine and reach their goals. “We all have stories about trying to triumph through all types of negative surroundings that try to take us down,” she said to the students. “So, FTGU stands for Frum Tha Ground Up, and it’s all about starting from nothing and growing as much as you possibly can.”
